This intensive course is a fly through of the early stages of residential development, taking
participants from initial site analysis through to securing planning permission.

Participants will learn how to do site feasibility investigations which identify opportunities and
constraints, and to apply these to risk mapping, creating the development brief, engaging
stakeholders and commissioning a design suitable for planning permission.

This course is aimed at those new to development, transferring from other disciplines or who
want to understand this early stage of the development journey at a high level.

  • Identify the stakeholders traditionally involved in development and their influence.
  • Understand the design commissioning process for a planning compliant scheme.
  • Appreciate the importance of financial viability and recognise key factors impacting it.
  • Identify and reflect on key learnings from the session, and how these can be applied within your role.
