What is the Housing Development Academy?
The Housing Development Academy is a tailored programme of short courses in new build development skills.
What courses can I join?

HDA offers a variety of courses around new-build development schemes. Training can be accessed through:

  1. Our yearly programme of training courses.
  2. In-house training tailored to individual team or organisation training needs.
Who are the courses for?

Our courses have been designed for housing development professionals across all levels of experience.

Housing management professionals or those coming from another discipline would also benefit.

HDA courses are open to all public sector bodies, housing associations, and private sector companies working in the built-environment sector.

Are your courses certified?

All our courses are designed to be certified for Continuous Professional Development credits.

Can I register for membership?

All London local authorities have the option to sign up as members of the HDA. Benefits of membership include:

  • 10 training days on any of the courses
  • Access to block bookings of 4 training days, at a discounted rate
  • Access to in-house training, at a discounted rate
  • Additional benefits including networking opportunities, priority booking, and co-creation of future curriculum.

Do you accept independent learners?

All participants must be affiliated to an organisation to enrol onto our courses.

How do I book onto a course?

Booking onto our courses is confirmed either through your booking manager (if you are a member), or through your line manager (if you are not a member). This is to ensure that participants are well-suited for their chosen course.

Participants can book onto courses through two routes:

  1. Using their organisation’s membership allowance.
  2. Purchasing individual places on a Pay as You Go basis.

If you are not sure if your organisation is signed up as a member, please get in touch and we will advise you on the best course of action.

How do I enrol onto a course I have been booked on?

All participants are required to share career background details in advance. Our trainers would like to know more about you and your personal learning objectives ahead of our courses. 

To enrol onto a course you have been booked on, please create a user account or login using your credentials.

Once you have logged in – an option to enroll will be made available in the header of the website. This will take you to the course enrolment page and allow you to finalise your career background details.

If you have been booked onto course

You will receive an email to confirm you have been booked to attend training as well as next steps to register your details.

If you have not been booked onto a course

You will receive an email to confirm your enrolment is pending and will be approved once a confirmation from your line manager has been shared.

How do I pay for a course?

If you are purchasing a place through Pay as You Go; the course fee will be invoiced directly to your organisation for processing.

We ask that invoices are paid within 21 days of receipt.

How do I view course materials?

Once you have been booked to attend a course and have provided your final registration details, you will be electronically enrolled onto the course.

Participants must be logged in to access course materials.

Participants can access course materials in two ways:

  1. Through the user dashboard which will show all courses the user is enrolled on.
  2. Through the individual course page you are enrolled on.

Once you are on the correct course page, please scroll down to view course materials at the bottom of the page.

Course materials will be available to view on our system one week before the training session.

I have provided my details but the system still says I am not enrolled?

Enrolments onto our systems will take place one working day after your enrolment details have been confirmed.
