Housing Development Academy

The Housing Development Academy offers short courses on the project management skills that deliver high quality new homes. Learning is based in real-life experience and our courses support employers to grow their own talent, with a strong emphasis on diversity.

Course participants learn alongside colleagues from other local authorities, with a strong focus on practical skills. Each course is designed by housing development practitioners and delivered by an expert trainer using real life scenarios.

All our courses have or will be designed to qualify for continued professional development credits (CPD).

There are six courses starting April 2023, with each course run twice in a 12 month period. The courses are in person and will be held in central London

For 2023-24, we offer six courses to help housing professional at different levels of experience to develop key skills. These range from people early in their career and seeking basic awareness, to senior staff who want to refresh or further develop their expertise.

The Housing Development Academy was set up by London Housing Directors’ Group (LHDG) with support from London Councils. The training programme is delivered by Future of London, the leadership and networking organisation for the built environment.

We place a strong emphasis on developing the talent of people from diverse backgrounds and building inclusive practices.

Training providers have been selected to deliver the courses based on their expertise and ability to deliver engaging practical training. Our training providers are:

University College of Estate Management (UCEM) & Beacon Partnerships
